In accordance with the unified deployment of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, Shanghai’s safety regulatory authorities recently joined forces with the municipal public security fire department and relevant departments in Pudong New Area, with the cooperation and support of stationed military units, to conduct a comprehensive inspection and thorough investigation of enterprises located on both sides of Renmintang in Heqing Town. Following these inspections and rectifications, seven enterprises in the area have voluntarily ceased operations, one enterprise has proactively relocated, and 14 enterprises have set specific relocation schedules. In line with the requirements of the on-site meeting on the comprehensive environmental remediation of Heqing Town convened by the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, we are providing guidance and oversight to local governments and departments to ensure that they make every effort to address safety hazards associated with hazardous chemicals, with the goal of completing the remediation work entirely by October 1. We are also urging local authorities to ensure that more than 90 percent of illegal structures are demolished and rectified within this year.
